Great edition, thanks team, and excited to see the Hungarian edition launching!

One question in the interest of saving time for everyone—have you tried translating via GenAI? I’ve found it very effective in going from Danish to English, but I suppose it might not be as good from English to other languages given the base of training data is disproportionately English.

Anyway, was just thinking that if GenAI could materially reduce time needed to finalize a translation, you could hopefully both save significant time for the folks doing the translations now, plus maybe find even more willing contributors to “edit” a GenAI first draft of the edition in their own languages that aren’t currently covered.

Hi Ben.

That's an interesting proposal. Thank you.

We haven't used GenAI so far in our work, as technically the language teams are not "translating" the English edition; they are doing their own interpretation on it. The English edition is more like "framework" or "guidance" for them.

However, if we want next year to cover more languages, it could be a model to entertain. There need to be two conditions accomplished before we can consider a new language edition: (a) A large part of the community does not speak English, and therefore a language translation is useful; (b) the community wants to build a cultural anchor. For the second condition, there needs to be a desire from the community to follow such a newsletter.

In the winter break, I will think of some model we can use to make it easier for communities to start their own "Last Week in Denmark" :)
